We live in dissonance because what we feel doesn’t line up with what it expected of us, so we push our feelings down to maintain the facade. If we are fortunate, our negative habits are only somewhat harmful to ourselves and others: deflecting blame, having to be right, or seeking attention.Many times we aren’t so fortunate, and our habits become more destructive to our relationships: drug, alcohol, or sexual addictions or manipulating and controlling others to get our needs met. The way to freedom is to allow God to help us see these things. To allow God to begin to touch the pain and walk us into who He created us to be.
