Healing the Heart

Small Group Facilitator Guide for Emotional Healing and Support

As I began my journey of emotional healing after our marriage crisis in 2004, I started learning that I could not do this journey alone. After many years of trial and error and research, I created this manual to help those who want to start a group where it is safe to share. I believe that people want a place where they can share their stories; their pain, shame, and secrets. A safe place where they can feel wanted and accepted no matter what. A place where people can come and let their walls down to be themselves and opportunities to grieve and cry together and receive love, hope and healing.

Inside are the tools you need to:

  • Develop and facilitate a small group for emotional health and healing

  • Keep the group on a heart level instead of an intellectual one

  • Create safety within the group by utilizing a commitment contract

  • Help others uncover hidden pain and false beliefs

  • Several resource pages and printable handouts

  • 12 lessons for small group

Toolbox for Emotional Health

A compilation of resources to help anyone in their journey of emotional health.

Inside, I share a relevant personal story of a crisis in my life and why I was acting the way I was acting, which was over-reacting. I show the work on how I found the source of my difficult feelings and false beliefs that I told myself. I give details of how I walked through my pain and to receive healing, replacing my false beliefs about myself, and standing up for myself in a healthy way.

This toolbox of resources includes:

  • Steps in how to process through pain

  • Feelings chart

  • Examples of woundings and hurtful behaviors

  • Scriptures highlighting God’s love for you

  • Definitions of pain, vulnerability and authenticity

  • The differences between feelings and emotions

  • Process for effective journaling
